Opposition to state aid for Rembrandt's 80 million

A majority of Dutch voters are against the Government's decision to provide EUR 80 million for the purchase of two paintings by Rembrandt. According to pollster Maurice de Hond is 36 percent of people before and 56 percent of the people against the millions of support.

Especially PVV-voters are against, 78 percent of them see nothing in the financial contribution of the State. 50Plus's voters is 73 percent against and at the SP 69 per cent. Among voters of D66 and CDA-huize is a majority just before the State aid for the purchase. Six in ten D66-supporters say yes, at CDA is that 53 percent.

Monday, it was announced that the Dutch Government bet on the return to Netherlands of the two paintings, wedding portraits of M Soolmans and Oopjen Coppit.
