The fatal traffic accident last week at Lauwersoog is possible the debt of Defense. There has since launched an investigation into the use of smoke pots by practicing military.

This was reported by the regional broadcaster RTV Noord. The Military Police has started investigation. Defence and Mayor Koos Wiersema of the Marne confirm the suspicion.

The Marneweg at Lauwersoog began Thursday a small pileup. This is a car was crushed between two trucks. A couple from Roden survived the blow. According to Defence, there was indeed an exercise underway in the accident.

Fog
Initially fog mentioned as a cause of the accident at the scene of the accident would have been clear, however. Police in Groningen also claims to have gotten inside tips on the use of smoke pots. The police will investigate into the hands of the military police and the tips prove to be true.

The truck driver who was involved in the fatal accident partially confirms the new suspicion. He argues that it was not foggy road. He saw in his own words suddenly missing a wall in front of him and could not brake for a car that would have been quiet on the road.

It would not be the first time that smoke pots of Defense have a negative effect on road safety. On January 18, 2006 crashed on the A28 at Assen 68 cars on each other, because soldiers had kindled at an exercise smoke pots. There were then eighteen people injured.
