The municipality Oldebroek, where Wezep belongs, decided in mid-September which Heidehoek could be converted into a reception center. But at information evenings about it there was so much opposition they had to intervene several times. A proponent of the asylum seekers' center was abused and threatened. At a church in Wezep unknowns daubed slogans against the arrival of asylum seekers. Pastors called from the pulpit to greater tolerance.
The council finally decided that there could only be three hundred asylum seekers to Wezep, but finds the Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) too little. Some construction is too expensive. Oldebroek is still looking for another loca
