A period of relative calm in Amsterdam. There, for the first time since the late 60 committed murder in four months.

Al vier maanden geen moorden in Amsterdam

The last murder in the capital was on 11 June this year, when a 41-year-old man was stabbed to death by his partner.

The last time there longer than four months no one was deprived of life, was between October 1968 and April 1969, writes the site Moordatlas.nl. The number of murders increased rapidly thereafter, writes the site. In the sad record year in 1998, 65 people were murdered in Amsterdam.

Until now there are twelve murders committed this year. If it remains so, it is for the first time since 1973 that so few murders are committed in Amsterdam. The site also makes a distinction between statements in the criminal environment and ordinary murders. The number of liquidations in the underworld has been fluctuating around nine per year.
