Roma family Nicolich on street by demolition

The controversial Roma family Rocky two months on the streets threatens Nicolich. The Salvation Army, who care for the family, are looking for housing.

The family should at the beginning of december the current home to the Churchill Avenue in the Utrecht district kanaleneiland. The building is demolished.

Rocky, his wife and four children down since 2012 in the home, which has been transformed by the municipality for 40,000 euro.

Before that was the Roma family, along with other family members, years free in a villa on the rijksstraatweg in De Meern. The Nicoliches roamed long by city and region. Their search for shelter cost the city over the last few years a lot of money (at least 90,000 euros). E.g. the country house in De Meern 26,000 euros for the making. The Nicoliches paid no rent. Help via the Salvation Army also took 26 mille. To emergency accommodation in hotels and holiday parks Utrecht was 29,000 euros.

The issue Nicolich led to political commotion. In particular former Mayor Aleid Wolfsen came under fire in the City Council. He got a vote of no confidence which he narrowly survived.

In recent years the relatively quiet around the family, although they are not quite up to the conditions in the so-called laatstekanscontract. The family was not allowed to come into contact with the police and the judiciary. Yet it happened though. Nevertheless, if they continue to the Churchill Avenue.

Surprised where the family is still not at all clear. Council members react surprised. CDA-Councillor Bert-Jan Baptiste had heard the news like the Councillor. ,, It is a file quite a past. ''
