Five men for major drug smuggling

Two men are arrested Wednesday in an investigation into large-scale drug smuggling through Schiphol Airport and the port of Rotterdam.

Three other defendants are already fixed. They are suspected of 550 kilos of cocaine and marijuana from South Africa and Ghana to 5700 km. This made the Royal military police Wednesday.
The Dutch men between 37 and 48 years come from Alphen aan den Rijn and Utrecht, IJsselstein. On 1 August this year, the customs at Schiphol a batch of 550 kilos of cocaine. The cocaine was hidden in a cargo shipment from South Africa.

During the investigation were given the military police, the Customs and FIOD view on the preparations of a consignment of narcotics. On 23 september arrived 5700 kilograms of marijuana in the port of Rotterdam. This party was hidden in a container from Ghana. The marijuana was intercepted at the time that the party drugs at a shed in zevenhuizen was delivered. During this RAID are the first three suspects arrested and is a firearm confiscated.

Two more suspects were arrested Wednesday morning. They are brought to trial Friday at the court-appointed receiver. The research led by the public prosecutor's Office North Holland is continued in cooperation with law enforcement authorities in Ghana and South Africa.
