Community service sentence for healers of monstrance

Against two suspects in healing the monstrance that was stolen from the museum Catharijneconvent in Utrecht, demanded his community service in January 2013.

It reports the AD Friday.

The girlfriend Samantha D. Michel E. and a friend of one of the thieves are suspected of wanting to carry the monstrance to Belgium. Both deny.

D. and E. were joined by one of the robbers Marco K. by police when they tried to run off the road by car with the monstrance in the back to Belgium.

By E and D, respectively 120 hours of community service and 160 hours required.

Monstrance

The monstrance late January was stolen in broad daylight. The four robbers stopped a scooter in front of the museum, ran inside, pitched shop windows broken and robbed the exhibited art object. Employees tried to hold still against the thieves, but who, nevertheless, managed to escape.

The monstrance had an insured value of 250,000 euros. The main part inlaid diamond is still missing.

The men were given prison sentences imposed for several years.
