The number of animals caught by using lokfietsen rising spectacularly. The number of suspects arrested is already almost doubled compared to last year

Lokfiets blijkt onweerstaanbaar voor dieven

The first nine months of this year were nearly nine hundred bike thieves screwed, last year there were still five hundred. Doubling the number of arrests there is thus to arrive. In 2013 almost three hundred suspects were identified.

GPS transmitter

The number of bikes with GPS system used by the police has also increased over the years, but not proportionate. In 2014 were 950 units at strategic locations, this year only two hundred extra, says a spokesman for Foundation for Tackling Vehicle Crime (AVc).

"The police put the transmitter equipped with a GPS-wheelers in known hotspots. Apart supervision is not necessary. Once the bike is moved, they get a call. "The transmitter gives travels through which path the stolen bike. This leads the police more often to places where more stolen bicycles are found. No petty criminals so.

Revolving door

Bicycle Thieves also prove revolving criminals. Last year, it picked up a very eager and unlucky bicycle thief in Amsterdam. The man stole quickly whopping three lokfietsen.

The success of the lokfietsen there are now also lok (freight) cars, lokgraffiti, lokhomo's lokoma and lokwoningen. Even agents themselves do regularly, and dress up as lokhoer or lokjood.
Sidenote

There is a legal comment on the operation. A lokfiets should not be made more beautiful than a conventional bike. The police allowed people does not incite acts that they actually did not plan.
A lokfiets should look therefore "natural" to be legally acceptable.
