That says chairman Micha de Winter at RTV Utrecht. His committee was yesterday formally installed by Minister Van der Steur.

Winter says he is greatly shocked by the stories of the "intensity of the suffering that comes forward." Those involved in his reports about violent and prolonged violence. Also notable is that physical and psychological violence often went together with sexual abuse, says Winter.

"It's heavy, we see so far. It's long, it has much impact on the rest of your life. Humiliation, neglect, but also physical violence, throwing down the stairs, trapping and striking. Actually, very often together for, "said Winter. He wants to investigate whether it is a structural problem.
Research

The committee's first Winter does research on violence in child welfare between 1945 and now. The seven members shall include maps or enough resources for scientific research and whether there are signs of systematic violence in youth. Winter is already now convinced that the research should be continued. "It's worth it to find this out," he says.

The committee has until May the time to research. Then the Cabinet will decide whether there will be a large-scale investigation.
If that happens, expect the winter there is also a hotline.
