House wants to eventually close all coal plants

A majority in parliament wants the government will close all coal plants over time in the Netherlands.

tweede-kamer-wil-termijn-sluiting-alle-kolencentrales-1.jpgThere, a majority in parliament at the insistence of D66 Thursday along with it. At present, there are eleven operating coal plants in the Netherlands.

Government Labour Party supports the call of D66, but coalition partner VVD feel anything. The plan gets further support from the Christian Union, SP and GroenLinks.

In the adopted resolution states that the Netherlands should contribute to the solution of climate change by requiring their own CO2 emissions.

The coal plants are responsible not only for CO2 emissions, thus warming the earth, but also for particulate matter, nitrogen and mercury.

No time frame is called for when the power plants to close, the government should develop a plan to phase in which is described by the sector and the Chamber is here to inform about in 2016.
