Angry parents and students of the Lyceum Rijswijks have jumped into the breach for a Muslim teacher of the Executive Board no longer allowed to pray at school. The English teacher has since resigned.

On Facebook his parents started a protest action. They want the predominantly black school "very beloved" teacher still responds: ,, Nobody is bothered when he was two minutes of his break used to pray, please note in a place where no one sees him, '' as they write .

Protest
A group of students used their lunch hour Tuesday to come up loudly for the teacher.Director Jeroen Bos of the Rijswijks Lyceum acknowledges that he is the English teacher has forbidden to go any longer on school prayer. Even though it is in the break and out of sight: ,, As a public school we find that religious expressions are private and private should be exercised. A teacher who wants to pray necessarily in the school does not fit with that view. ''

At the national association of public schools VOS / ABB they see it differently. A spokesman would not discuss the Rijswijkse thing itself, but states that religious expression "in general" are not taboo in public schools: ,, As a believer thinks that prayer is part of his religion, there is nothing wrong with that, if he does in the break, in his free time. ''

Endorsements
That also find the parents who now have 285 endorsements inside. The lecturer is particularly moved by the support of his students, he tells on the facebook page. ,, I've never felt so much love of students, '' he writes. ,, Keep believing in jezef and do your best in school. "" For further comment Tuesday he was unavailable.

The director of the Lyceum Rijswijks stressed that the quality of the English teacher is to notice anything. ,, But the prayers were for him so important that he has resigned. "
