A majority in parliament sees nothing in a plan of minister Bussemakerhuis for students to address their public transport pass late return stricter.

Kamertegenhogereboeteov-kaart-1.jpgIf it is up to the government, students pay from January 1 next year a higher penalty when they map not stop in time or their "student credit" does not get time of their public transport card. The fine is 200 euros, Bussemaker wants to increase it to 300.

Last week it emerged that thousands of students have been fined. MPs from the VVD, PvdA and D66 are not a good plan if that fine next year again goes up.

Leniency

D66 MP Van Meenen marveled at the NOS Radio 1 News about the state of affairs. "The system is not working well because the implementing agency can not automatically stop the map. Very odd that in the year 2016 is no possibility to invalidate the card remote after the trip right."

Van Meenen indicates that this well should work according to experts at TU Delft. "First this out better sort and arrange before we are threatened with higher fines. Students now do not know where they stand. They should be given at least a month of courtesy."

Minister Bussemaker still holds fast to its plan to increase the fine. "The fine is to be there to prevent abuse. Graduates extensively and repeatedly, at least three active, informed to stop their public transport pass. You can not assume that graduates will then be aware of the risks."
