The Public Prosecutor (OM) has no need for additional radar or satellite data from the downing of flight MH-17 over Ukraine. The prosecution now has sufficient information and will not ask to get even more information.

openbaar-ministerie-heeft-genoeg-radarinformatie-crash-mh17-3.jpgDevelopment minister Ard van der Steur (Security and Justice) Thursday to let the House know.

If the OM later still want more information, the government will do everything "to provide relevant data to the public prosecutor for criminal investigation." This can be through the United Nations or the International Civil Aviation Organisation.

The Dutch Safety Board (OVV) reports according to the minister to have sufficient information about the radar and satellite data. Any additional radar data will not change the conclusions by the OVV.

The CDA had a letter from the cabinet requested following a request by relatives to the radar data to the OVV.

Ukraine

Van der Steur writes that Ukraine has provided raw and processed secondary radar data. Russia is not the raw radar data, but can receive video images of a combination of radar data. Both countries say they have no further information.

The Americans have radar and satellite information to the Dutch military intelligence DISS. The prosecution and the OVV could retrieve that information in the DISS, says Van der Steur.

Collaboration

Furthermore, is the cooperation among the five countries in the criminal investigation into the disaster satisfactorily, says the minister. Inter alia, in the research on the exact type of missile and the location of firing is progress. Results are expected in the second half of this year.

It is not clear how long the criminal investigation is still going to last.
