Patrick De Clercq was 19 years married to Jacqueline & nbsp; -. & Nbsp; Leen Peeters"I saw flashing blue lights outside our door and ten minutes later the police were at the door," says his wife Jacqueline De Clercq (52), who was inside during the accident.

Patrick De Clercq and his wife lived in the Canal Street in Evergem and was a truck driver until a few years ago. "Never in his career he has experienced something," says his wife Jacqueline. Patrick worked for a year for coaches Herman & Vandamme. "He drove around in a van and went to pick up disabled children to get to school," says Jacqueline. "His van was always parked in the Monumentstraat

. "He left as always around six thirty to pick up and bring it to school for all children." He was not gone long, I saw flashing blue lights of our house. I thought, I'll just call him to tell it that an accident has happened here. But since he had forgotten his mobile phone, I would have told him, especially at night, "Jacqueline continues.

Ten minutes later, her worst nightmare reality. "The police called to talk about my husband. I asked if he was not hurt, but then told the officer that my husband was killed," sobs Jacqueline. "Then I realized that the blue lights were for him." Jacqueline went outside and saw her husband lying. "That was never allowed to do, because now they suffer from hyperventilation," says the brother of Jacqueline emotional. "They saw each other so much."

Always friendly

Jacqueline and Patrick were married nineteen years. "He was my second husband. The most respectable man there is. He did not drink and was always on time at home," says Jacqueline. "They are always the best ones that have to go first," she continues. "He was a kind man and did his job well and always with great pleasure," says Aline Herman, CEO of Herman & Vandamme. "This morning when I told the supervisor was told that the bus driver had not been, I knew something was terribly wrong. He never was late and did his job with great pleasure. Unbelievable how such a thing could happen."

Ask

Jacqueline also still does not understand what happened. "Maybe Patrick returned because he had forgotten his mobile phone and he was in a hurry? Maybe the driver did not see him because it was still dark. I do not know, but I blame the driver nothing," she says.

In shock

The truck driver had to be transferred to the hospital in shock. "We express our sincere condolences to the family and relatives of the victims. We will also continue as a company offer our full cooperation to the inquest that are implemented," it sounds to Katrien De Coster Mervielde, a company specializing in the transport is liquids in tankers and tank containers.
