Film Industry demands 1 billion from the State downloads

Dutch film producers want a compensation of more than 1 billion euros from the Dutch State. That amount they own words lost through illegal downloads. According to the film industry is the state responsible.

Measures

Therefore, the Dutch film producers and distributors want a compensation for the damages and demands that the state comes up with measures to tackle piracy. They want that there will be more information to make their consumers aware that downloading is not illegal.

They also want the state to ensure that illegal disappearance download platforms on the web and that Internet pirates can be prosecuted.

"Everyone thinks you deserve a punishment if you steal bread from the bakery, but if you illegally download a movie is much less common sense," said Klaas de Jong on behalf of the Film Society of Entrepreneurs.

The film producers want within two weeks of talks with the Secretary of State, otherwise they go to court.
