"No one is sleeping on our streets." Mayors in the Netherlands almost rolling over each other with fine words about the care of people with no home.

The number of homeless people with a non-western origin has doubled in the same period. The increase in the number of indigenous homeless was slightly less, as CBS reported this morning.

ON THE STREET

It is estimated that 31,000 people had no fixed abode in the Netherlands last year, slept in shelters, on the streets, in public buildings or with relatives or friends.

Of this group had 13,000 non-Western origin. In 2009, there were nearly 6,500. There were 5,500 homeless people with indigenous origin between 2009 and 2015.

And that's not all. Comes perhaps to talk about the tip of the iceberg as far, but we only have it here but the visible homeless, who are in one way or another entity registered

illegals

The figures in this study do not include the people residing illegally in the Netherlands and are homeless.

Over the last year spent half of the homeless with a non-Western origin in one of the major cities. The indigenous homeless find a village often good. Stayed last year of them namely only 29 percent in major cities.

Non-Western homeless are younger than native homeless. This difference is increased over the years. In 2009 was still 27 percent of the number of non-Western homeless under thirty years, six years later this had risen to one-third.

WOMEN

As in all previous years, mostly homeless men, yet nearly one in five homeless 5700 a woman. This proportion has remained stable over the years. Homeless women are relatively younger than homeless men and they often stay in one of the four major cities.

Of all homeless women is 36 per cent of non-western origin. Among the homeless men, this percentage is higher, of them 44 percent of non-western origin.
