Islamic schools are not of fundamental

The secondary system of Islamic education turns out difficult to come off the ground. The AD asked the applications for new schools at the Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO). It shows that different school boards in recent years have done dozens of attempts, but that almost all of those stranded.

In the Hague are eight requests; all disapproved. In Amsterdam there were seven; one got green light, but still has no building blocks and other requests. Islamic school boards in Utrecht tried eight times to get a foothold; only a school with a mixed basis, including Islamic, had success.

Eight applications were also rejected in Rotterdam. For Schiedam and Eindhoven did school boards two failed attempts.
