The victim, in his 20s, was gunned down just before 10pm and pronounced dead at the scene in Harlesden, North London.

People on social media spoke of the attacker using an uzi-style gun, however this has not been verified.

A motive for the attack is not clear, however some reports claim the victim had taunted someone about stolen jewellery before the attack.

Other witnesses claimed he was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire between rival gangs.

An 18-year-old at the scene told the Evening Standard: ‘I heard a shot and came outside and at least another two shots went off really rapidly. It sounded like a machine gun.

‘They shot him from point-blank range. They were going slowly at the time and then sped off down the street.

‘There are gangs in this area but this level violence is terrifying. That an innocent man has been caught up in it like this is just shocking.’

The Met Police said it was not terrorist related.

A spokesman told Metro they were called to the junction of Church Road and Conley Road in Brent borough. ‘Officers, firearms officers and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended and found a man in his late 20s with gun shot injuries,’ he said.
