Briton escapes Zaventem and then step into bomb-metro

A 51-year-old Briton was killed Tuesday in the subway at Maelbeek station after he had just escaped bombings in Zaventem. He texted still a worried aunt that he was safe and then stepped into the same underground as a terrorist Khalid el-Bakraoui.

Friday was officially announced that David Dixon, an IT expert who lived and worked in Brussels for ten years, was killed during the fatal subway ride. Dixon, who comes originally from Hartlepool, came back from a weekend in his homeland and left just Zaventem airport when there are two explosives went off.

His aunt Ann Dixon knew he'd landed that morning at Brussels Airport and asked him was a short message if everything is okay. The Briton confirmed this and said that he had noticed little of the attack. He was still in time to direct by taking the subway to work. But he never arrived.

His partner Charlotte Sutcliffe visited Brussels last week all hospitals in the hope of finding Dixon. The two met each other in college and have put together a 7-year-old son, Henry. His family confirmed Friday to the BBC that they are just "the most terrible and sad news about their loved David" had been given.
