Centrum district is not happy with the arrival of Ripley's Believe It or Not to Dam Square.

The tourist attraction can be described best as a cabinet of curiosities is a direct copy of an American concept and opens this spring its doors at number 21, between Madame Tussauds and a souvenir shop.

"The municipality is spread rating and would have preferred that Ripley's would settle outside the city," said Center Chairman Boudewijn Oranje in Het Parool. "However, there are no possibilities to prevent their arrival."

That the district can not intervene with the arrival of an unwanted attraction lies in the fact that there is no policy for the buildings on the Dam. "There is no fixed idea of what the dam has to be not only a place to commemorate, celebrate or protest," says Orange.
