"During the ride home, the car came to a sidewalk edge. The driver lost control of the car and slammed into a tree. Ysabelle was killed. The rest had minor injuries," says mother Petra.
The driver was like Ysabelle 19 years old. "He had not long his license. In retrospect, it turned out that the boy did have alcohol. And he had smoked cannabis." By blowing, he was not as boisterous as you would normally with alcohol, says Petra. "Therefore, the friends were probably unaware that he was under the influence."

The parents of Ysabelle heard at 5:30 pm that it was wrong. "Then you get such a phone call. It was a college friend of Ysabelle. He called from the hospital and said that something had happened. Arriving at the hospital Petra and Gerard were taken to the morgue. "Then your daughter there, on an iron table under a white sheet," Petra remembers.
