Large majority against Ukraine treaty

Netherlands Wednesday in a referendum said 'no' to the association agreement with Ukraine. The minimum turnout of 30 percent was achieved by 32.2 percent according to the preliminary results.

The Dutch signed the European cooperation agreement with Ukraine is now without further ado. That made Prime Minister Mark Rutte on Wednesday after a clear majority of Dutch people had voted in a referendum against the agreement.

VOICES
The small municipality Rozendaal in the province of Gelderland Wednesday had the largest voter turnout in all municipalities in the Netherlands. 49.1 percent of voters went there based on the preliminary results to the polls. On second and third place are the Frisian Islands Schiermonnikoog and Vlieland with a turnout of around 47 percent.

Tilburg was the turnout at 22.7 percent the lowest. Other places in Brabant had a low turnout. The bottom ten municipalities there are seven from that province. Rotterdam and Amsterdam dangling also down, by 24.4 and 26.8 percent respectively.

In the municipality of Urk, most voters against the treaty (83.3 percent). Wageningen knew most voters for the treaty. 62.4 percent voted for it.

VICTORY
