A total of 5,500 tenants were put out of the house last year. In most cases, rent arrears and the reason involves singles, according to a survey of Aedes, the trade association of corporations.

Apart from rent arrears (84 percent of cases) are cannabis cultivation, subletting / housing fraud and nuisance grounds for eviction.

In 2015 judges spoke of 22,000 judgments to turn renters, slightly less than in 2014. That it came so far in a quarter of cases, is because the landlords also try to avoid in consultation with tenants eviction after verdict . Main task of these institutions is to house people with lower incomes.

Furthermore locks corporations with 50,000 tenants a payment to walk in back rent. Also is prevention through home visits and referrals to support agencies.

Defaulters often have debts elsewhere, for example in the Tax Administration and the Central Judicial Collection Agency (CJIB). Because debts go there for the rent shoots sometimes with in. Also waiting for benefits and allowances lead to debt, thus Aedes. The organization therefore sees an important role for government and local authorities in preventing evictions.
