Released social housing not only for refugees

Half of the Amsterdam housing associations have been told for months that all house hunters released social housing intended for refugees with a residence permit. The message is incorrect, but no less harmful, according to the municipality and the associations concerned.

The statements were made in "first line contacts", for example, at the counter or over the phone. Seventy percent of the available properties, as agreed, will go to Amsterdam who seek houses Woningnet. Thirty percent is reserved for vulnerable groups such as people who need to get a home through the social care priority, but also for status holders.

Information provided by house hunters became known that employees of The Key and Rochdale have said that they do not currently have to rely on social housing. Houses that are released go to status holders, it was said. These complaints about the Key and Rochdale reached the municipal councilors GroenLinks. An employee of this newspaper was told the same Ymere.

support
The corporations involved deny that most of the houses go to status holders. That is against the agreements made with the City of Amsterdam. It would also undermine the support among the Amsterdammers for the inclusion of refugees and status holders. The corporations doubt on request also have strong or their staff actually said that the houses go to refugees.

(Ultimately, 70 percent of the homes to house hunters gone

Herter Buren, housing corporation Rochdale)

Hester van Buren, president of the board of Rochdale, said in a statement that there have been indeed more temporary houses for status holders to backlogs. "In Rochdale eighty percent of the houses given to status holders the months of November, December and January," said Van Buren. She says she can understand that this fact has affected the image of some employees at the property division.

On balance, it makes nothing of Rochdale claimed. Van Buren: "In 2015 ended just 70 percent of the houses went home seekers this year happens again.." The Key also acknowledges having caught up. Ymere will not speak of catching up. The corporation holds the note that have been temporarily more homes to status holders, 'basta'. The average number of houses status holders shall receive, according Ymere, unchanged thirty percent.

Good communication
The issue came to light after GroenLinks council member Jorrit Nuijens broached the matter with Councillor Laurens Ivens living in the council committee. He also believes the communications harm 'public support', while the information is completely false. Nuijens: "Support starts with good communication We also immediately alerted the federation of housing associations when the signals were coming, I've spoken to the councilor..." Ivens said to be the most urgent.

The spokesman councilor Ivens said the case already discussed with the communications department of the Amsterdam Federation of Housing Associations (AFWC). "Everyone should indeed convey the same message in the city."
