"The sad story of Tim suicide cultivates understanding among bullies'

Bullying is not to banish: research shows that one is harassed by the nine students. And while the consequences could be terrible. In 2012, Tim Ribberink committed suicide. The grief of the family is still high. "What happened, we can not change."

From new national study shows that being bullied average of three children in a class of 27 students. Especially boys often bully: twice as much as girls. Under bullying is swearing example, gossip, send annoying messages, steal something, or someone spitting exclude.

The 20-year-old Tim Ribberink from Tilligte was prolonged bullied. On November 1, 2012, he decided to step out of life. "I am ridiculed all my life, harassed, bullied and excluded," he wrote in a farewell message. Those words came hard on the parents of Tim. They felt disbelief, anger and sadness.

"The bullying is already in primary school started. Tim has there never anything let on," says Erna White, a friend of the family Ribberink against RTL Nieuws. "The family still has a lot of grief. It looks deep. You notice that she prefers not to talk about it."

250 paving stones
From the family's initiative came to do something with the fact that Tim died bullying of others. An aunt of Tim with Erna that professional police officer's, started a foundation to raise awareness of the problem. "What we can not change happened. What we can do is with effort and focus a little contribute to address bullying. Every child that helps with this is profit," says Erna.

The purpose of the foundation, Time Out Against Bullying, is making discussion of bullying and the consequences of this behavior. Tim's family wants to ensure that suicide because of bullying never happens again. By placing specially designed paving stones at primary schools in Twente is the theme of bullying brought to the attention. There are now 250 paving stones at primary schools.

Also hang large posters at the Municipal Office in Enschede, along the A1 motorway and at the football stadiums of Heracles Almelo and FC Twente. The poster shows two football players who make the Time Out sign, which you indicate that you do not accept bullying.
