SCP: many elderly deprived of family care

Nearly twenty percent of the elderly and people with disabilities no one around him who gives care. This emerges from a study by the Institute for Social Research that has been done in 2014.

More and more over-75s say they have no one to care for them. This is largely because they no longer have a partner.

Ten percent

If all the adults are included, almost 10 percent one to fall back on. They have no family, friends or neighbors who can provide support. This mainly concerns domestic help, says the SCP.

According to the study, 2.2 million adults living at home in 2014 care. That equates to 17 percent of Dutch people over 18 years.

It is the first time that the actual care provided has been incorporated into a study of the SCP.
