In flat on Monday is life-threatening

Do you smoke? And do you live in a flat? Then you have the greatest chance of becoming a victim of a house fire.

Data from the Fire Academy shows that smokers are the main causes of fires in the home. And of all fatal fires were most place in a gallery flat. In two thirds of cases the victim lived alone. On Monday and Saturday were the most fires with fatalities, followed by Friday, Thursday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. A quarter of all fatal home fires found in the morning between 2:00 and 6:00 pm.

CARELESSNESS

Of the 27 fatal house fires that occurred last year that killed a total of 31 deaths, two-thirds due to carelessness of the victim. His careless smoking was the number one killer, followed by careless handling when cooking with (electrical) equipment or other stuff. Short circuit or malfunction of a device were the cause of 15 percent of deadly flames seas.

Most fatal house fires are thus formed in a gallery flat (37 percent), followed by a terraced house (30 percent), nursing home / living with care (15 percent), a detached house (7 percent) or in a porch, apartment or recreation with lightweight building construction. The study also shows that 37 percent of the fires originated in the living room and 22 percent in both the bedroom and the kitchen.

SEAT DANGEROUS

Of the remaining 15 percent of fires originated in other rooms in the home. In a quarter of cases could not be traced in what object had arisen fire. In 19 percent of cases, this was a chair or sofa and a bed or mattress at 15 percent. Other articles in which the fires originated the (frying) pan (11 percent), electrical appliances (11 percent), clothing / textiles (7 percent) and furniture (4 percent).

The fatality was found mostly in the living room and continue in the bedroom, kitchen, landing, or in another place in the house.

Most fatal home fires occur in February, followed by november, September, October, January and July, March, April, May, December and January.
