Plasterk: good balance in new inlichtingenwet

The government has indeed taken into account criticisms of the new Law on the Intelligence and Security Services by various organizations.

So says Minister Plasterk in reaction to the news that Dutch intelligence services also may hack innocent civilians, as the services in this way can reach their targets. De Volkskrant, the text submitted gotten into the hands of the State Council and shared with the NIS .

Many organizations find that the government is going too far. Plasterk says about the text has changed significantly in response to the criticism. According to him, the proposal is a good balance between security and privacy and can even be tapped data of innocent citizens under current law.

Of judges

He emphasizes the importance of an independent committee of judges will assess in advance or may be drained in a particular case. "That is a new power that ministers have not arranged for me the opinion of the judges is final."

Plasterk is now waiting for the opinion on the Council of State. Possibly the proposal in consequence further adjusted. The government hopes to submit the final bill before the summer in the House.
