Supporters say the wild horses nature damage, but opponents speak against.

The horses were introduced by European settlers on the continent. Escaped animals resulted in the wild to a very tough breed, because only survived the strongest animals.Copies of The Snowies stems mainly from army horses from the First and Second World War, from India and South Africa.

The brumby appeals to the imagination in Australia, like its American cousin Mustang in the US The animal is seen as powerful, spirited and self-reliant; exactly the qualities that Australians like to attribute itself. The culling of the animals is therefore a sensitive issue in Australia.

Shoot and birth control

Nevertheless, it is necessary, to find the state of New South Wales. The 6000 animals damage the fragile nature in the mountains and so threaten native species. Therefore their number should be halved over the next decade and then be reduced in a decade to 600.

In order to ensure that the animals may be killed, but also are being sought for birth control and the catching and movement of animals. The controversial shooting is prohibited from the air, as well as the raising of animals.

Wombats

Opponents of the plan say it is not too bad with the damage caused by the animals.Wombats and feral pigs, cats and dogs were more serious but less noticeable because they "are active at night.

Citizens can express themselves to the beginning of July on the plan. Thereafter, a final decision is taken.
