Netherlands has a relatively high infant mortality, noted Rob Kottenhagen and Kenneth Watson. Women should be able to easily go to the hospital to give birth

Royal Dutch Organisation of Midwives (KNOV) has picked up the hatchet. Formally to become the world ''s best to save "maternity care system. But in reality likely to scupper the introduction of integrated home care and to safeguard the extraordinary dominance of independent midwives.

Our home care under fire since the Netherlands in 2003 and 2008 one of the three European countries had the highest infant mortality. Research documented repeatedly that independent midwives often miss the plank in their assessment or require additional medical help pregnant (a gynecologist). Their 'risk selection', as this assessment is called, is not nearly as reliable as the KNOV claims.

Independent midwives ignore regular fetal growth retardation - a risk factor for infant mortality (in the womb) - and send pregnant late. They make 'risk pregnant' childbirth often start at home, while a hospital birth is indicated. Every year they refer one in three pregnant women during the home birth of the first child to the hospital (gynecologist). Hundreds of babies are taking risk of birth injury by oxygen need; if they do not die from it.

objectionable paternalism
These observations explain the high infant mortality is not complete, but do ask for action. But activist midwives find that society 'any additional health must accept for his wife and child to medicalization of pregnancy and childbirth to a halt. Morally objectionable paternalism.

Your baby will only be "statistical unlucky ', which is sacrificed on the altar of this obstetric ideology. It is a travesty that the KNOV again claiming the sole right to decide "what is best for pregnant and child." Her recent plea for self-determination of pregnant women is apparently only a masquerade where it really matters: the interests of its members. Who are pregnant now in a headlock, and keep it that way.

Only with a medical indication escape pregnant with mandatory supervision of independent midwives (including home confinement), and they can give birth free of charge in a birth center or hospital. Select 'healthy' pregnant before that, they must pay 333 euros (at). Want or they can not, they need to give birth at home.
