For 50 mass graves found in Iraq IS

In Iraq have so far discovered more than 50 mass graves in regions that were previously controlled by the terrorist group Islamic State.

Unnamed-40.pngReported that UN special envoy to Iraq, Jan Kubis, who declared to the UN Security Council that dig the "evidence for the heinous crimes committed IS", according to BBC.

The graves were discovered in recent months, after the areas were recaptured by IS.

The most recent discovery was that of a grave with the remains of about forty people in Ramadi in April. The city was in the hands of IS since May 2015 and was recaptured in December by the military.

There bodies were also discovered in Sinjar, Tirkit (north) and Anbar (west). Among the victims are members of the tribes, Iraqi soldiers women and Yazidis. And mass graves were discovered in Syria.

The international community must "take steps to ensure that IS fighters be held responsible," said Kubis at the V Council.

"I condemn strongly the ongoing killings, abductions, rape and torture of Iraqis by IS, which can be considered as crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide itself," Kubis said yet. According to him, the terrorist group can not only be defeated through military means.He also calls for actions to "tackle the root causes of violent extremism."
