Yildirim has been twenty years an ally and confidant of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He said his nomination was the result of the opinions of nearly 800 important AKP members and that he went to make hard to fight the "terrorist threat" against Turkey.

,, We will do all our work in complete harmony. Mainly with our president and leader, but also all the members of this party. Together we will achieve the goals of our great Turkey, "said Yildirim at a press conference.

Ally
Former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu announced earlier this month that he would step down, after several public clashes with Erdogan, who attempts by the Turkish constitutional change at this time to implement.

At present the position of Erdogan is still officially one with little real power. It was intended that Davutoglu would play second fiddle while Erdogan changed the presidency of a ceremonial function to that of a statesman with powers.
