The landlord tax must be abolished. This couples Aedes (the Association of housing corporations), the living bond and the Association of Netherlands municipalities (VNG) following a survey by the University of Groningen.
The research shows that the charge have a negative impact on the availability of social housing and for households with lower income.
Since 2013 should owners of social housing (especially corporations) the landlord charge. But Aedes, the living bond and the VNG say the money is needed for more social housing for different groups of house hunters.

This money disappears especially in the Treasury. The Cabinet requires a contribution from the landlords to lower the national debt.
The landlord tax discourages landlords to build new social housing or to renovate existing homes because the charge then rises.
It is more profitable to hire to increase so that housing no longer fall under the levy, to social housing to sell to residents and to free sector to build homes. That are not taxed.
The researchers conclude that it is better to broaden the levy to all properties, including non-social housing and buy homes.
Minister Stef Blok (live) currently shows also conduct research into the effectiveness of the landlord charge.

"Corporations can pay the levy from the additional rent increases, the sale of property that has nothing to do with social rental and by saving on operating expenses."
