It is the fifth consecutive year that the Netherlands not to standard. This is clear from an analysis of EEA, the environmental watchdog of the European Union.

In total there are ten EU countries which do not meet the standard that the Union has imposed itself. There are four types of emissions that are responsible for most environmental pollution: ammonia, nitrogen oxides (Nox), NMVOC's (where benzene and formaldehyde covered) and sulphur dioxide.

All EU countries must measure the emissions of these substances since 2010. Agriculture is responsible for emissions of ammonia. The toxic substance is mostly in the air and the ground during composting of the country.

Die Other countries hit by the EEA on the fingers are tapped for exceeding the standards are Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Spain and Germany. That last country in 2014 the rules violated in three of the four categories.

With the strict rules, the EU aims to reduce air pollution in Europe. Figures from the Union shows that every year four hundred thousand people in the EU die prematurely from air pollution caused by the emission of harmful substances.
