AMSTERDAM - For the first time swells within the Labour Party's call to Ahmed Aboutaleb as party leader.
Thirteen Labour mayors this week made an urgent appeal to the mayor of Rotterdam to be a candidate.
,, It's time, Ahmed, high time, '' write the mayors in a letter they sent Thursday to the Rotterdam city hall, with a copy to the party executive.
The thirteen argue in their letter, which publishes the Volkskrant Saturday that the party needs a front runner ,, standing in the local community with both feet and knows what is in the people and knows how to translate good policy. ''
It is the first time within the Labour Party demands for Aboutaleb get broad resonance. If the PvdA however he wants, Aboutaleb will have to be asked.
