It is again: the Islamic terrorist movement al-Shabaab on Monday again committed an attack in Somalia. This time it is a military base which is located 50 kilometers from the capital Mogadishu. At least ten soldiers are deceased.
Car bomb
First plane went off a car bomb next to the base. Then an unknown number of terrorists stormed the complex. There was a gun battle that lasted hours. The attackers finally retreated and left, according to the Somali army, twelve dead behind.
ATTACKS
The last two weeks, attacks have been perpetrated on a bus and a large hotel. Thereby fell eighteen and fifteen deaths respectively.
WHO AND WHAT IS AL-Shabaab?
Al-Shabaab began in 2003 as a strict Islamic youth movement in Somalia. Al Shabaab literally means "youth". The purpose of the group is entering the sharia, the strict Islamic law. In Somalia they manage to get their hands quickly large areas. In 2012 she join al-Qaida.
