Nearly 700,000 euros in compensation has been paid by the Belgian government to the victims of terrorist attacks in Brussels.
It reports the Belgian Ministry of Justice. Especially for the attacks, a separate window opens where victims can turn. The committee that handles the claims, committed smoother than usual victims of violent crimes. Applications are quickly dealt with and the victims do not have to wait until completion of the trial.
Amendment of the law
In addition, the law on assistance to victims of violent crimes is adjusted. The maximum amount is doubled in emergency aid. Instead of 15,000 victims can now get up to 30,000 euros.
On March 22, the window was opened and now there are already paid 674 500 euros.There are submitted 215 requests, of which 84 are covered.
