The ship sailed in Erlangen (in southern Germany) at a bridge, while two people died. It concerns crew: two men of 33 and 49 years. Some 180 passengers were evacuated hours later.

The passenger rescue went very difficult, because there had to be built some sort of emergency bridge through which one could get safely ashore. Some 200 rescuers were deployed. Although the clash took place around 1:30 pm could not start the evacuation around 6 am Sunday morning.

How the accident could have happened is not yet known. The collision with the bridge collapsed the cabin of the ship company Viking Freya fully. The two crew members were clamped and died.

Of the passengers, mostly tourists from North America, no one was injured. They have been collected for a while in the neighborhood.

Also in June for two accidents happened with river cruise boats in Bavaria, but then no one was injured.
