Forty-year-old murder case solved likely

Over forty years on the police in California have still managed to maintain two suspects for the murder of two young girls in 1973. The men (both 65) were apprehended after a cold case team another critical to the case looked through the latest techniques.

US media reported that the suspects are no strangers to the police. One of them even a convicted sex offender is whose genetic material was stored in a DNA database of justice.The men were 22 years old at the time of the murder that took place in the American village Olivehurst, where the victims came from.

Havy maimed

The 12-year-old Valerie and 13-year-old Doris were reported missing on November 12, 1973 by their mothers after they have not returned from their visit to a shopping center in a nearby place. The search for the young girls did not last long. After a few hours of their lifeless and severely mutilated bodies were found along a country road. They were close shot with a shotgun.

US police set up a major study on rope that ended in 1976. After more than sixty interrogations the police saw insufficient grounds to continue the investigation. It would take until 2014 before it was resumed using new techniques. There were traces secured the evidence already that time was saved. Which recently led to a possible solution.

Statement

The men were arrested by the police and stuck, reports Associated Press . Whether they have made a statement, is not yet clear.
