Dike looks back: "I was not stable, a lot of girls doing"

Although he is only 23, Mitchell Dijks has several deep valleys known in his professional career.

As the defender had to leave Ajax in 2014, because the club is no longer looked down at him. This decision of the club cut hard to the left back, as he told NRC Next.

"My self-confidence was completely gone," he remembers. The move to Willem II, which he then took, proved a hit. Coach Jurgen Streppel brought him calmer and better waters.

"Streppel asked if I ever heard of a mental coach, which seemed a bit for me I'm pretty open, we dove right away deep in my past I was not stable, a lot of girls doing the mental coach said...: 'do that phone once a day, go out with a friend to the movies.' "

Meanwhile Dijk, who also played for Heerenveen, an undisputed base player at Ajax.
