After the murder of Els Borst has long feared an attempt on the life of former Prime Ministers Wim Cook and Jan Peter Balkenende. The two former prime ministers were therefore several months intensive personal security in 2014.
This enables Wim Cook in an interview with the AD. From police investigation after the murder of Chest found that "a confused man" the D66 politician had asked for the addresses of Cook and Balkenende. Police took into account that this man was the killer.
Cook confirmed shortly after the murder to the police that Borst had warned him a week before that it had been a confused man looking at him and Balkenende. ,, It was at the farewell party of Beatrix in Rotterdam, '' said Cook. ,, Els saw me from a distance and shouted: "Wim, Wim! Shortly after the murder, Cook was approached by the police for questioning. Then it was already revealed police investigation Borst told her hairdresser and a few friends about the confused man.
