In mid-October PvdA and VVD agreed to house refugees with residence status in container houses and vacant office buildings. They pay no rent and therefore are not entitled to housing benefit. As these refugees receive a portion of the in-kind assistance in the form of shelter, they receive lower social assistance. 'Sober and fair' called in coalition circles.

Numerous obstacles on the road
Klijnsma Minister of Social Affairs, which deals with the assistance, wants to prevent in-kind assistance is made possible for each person entitled to assistance. Officials from seeing her ministry in consultation with other ministries reportedly numerous obstacles on the road to the implementation of the coalition agreement.

The VVD they point out that Deputy Prime Minister Asscher there have consented. If in-kind assistance for refugees working, as can be heard, it can also be entered for Dutch social assistance recipients.

That would be bad fall at a part of the Labour Party supporters. Critical PvdA members were already sure that container houses or converted office buildings should become the new standard for social housing.
