They were accused for seven years been wrongly drug trafficking, gold smuggling, human trafficking, money laundering, forgery and corruption.

Black Book
According to lawyer Geert-Jan Knoops shows the Zambezi case that the quality of justice, in particular the investigation and prosecution, should be improved in the Caribbean Netherlands.
Quite the Foundation Board in Bonaire (Fundashon Bon Gobernashon) published in 2007 a black book that gave rise in 2009 to a major investigation by the Public Prosecutor and the National Police.

Raids were made by the suspects and many documents confiscated.
The case caused a lot of commotion on the island. Booi would have accepted gifts and have committed include forgery when purchasing a property. El Hage would have accepted gifts in exchange for permits and together with his wife have committed mortgage fraud.

Personal injury
To everyone's surprise, the case was previously dropped. The foundation appealed against and the investigation was resumed in 2012.

Knoops, who defends two years, the follow-up investigation at the time called "illegal" because the Court had already decided in 2010 that the case should be put stop. The affair would have brought great personal harm to the defendants.

El Hage states in the Volkskrant that he and his colleagues blackened with political opponents who did not agree with the connection of Bonaire in the Netherlands that they advocated.
