Police and army are in a heightened state of readiness to repel a terrorist attack like in Paris. Research by RTL Nieuws showed that several hundred counter-terrorism and heavily armed guards everywhere in the Netherlands are at crucial locations or driving around.

Rapid Response Teams
They form the so-called Rapid Response Teams (RRT). When a terrorist can report them directly to the risk and they do not have to collect first, so no precious time is lost.

In the Netherlands there are seven joint anti-terror units supplying troops for the Rapid Response Teams. They come from the police and the gendarmerie.

ME day and night
In addition, each police unit night and day a riot squad consisting of about 50 people on standby. Altogether 10 platoons.

The trooper is on the border of the Netherlands to keep a sharp eye or wanted terrorists entering our country. In addition, they nuondersteund by army personnel of the Airborne Brigade.

New feature trooper
Earlier this year the government has decided that the military police will be a new component that is specifically on the security risks of sensitive buildings. This relates to, among other ministries, parliament, embassies and buildings of Jewish organizations. The military police are trained to act in dangerous situations with heavier weapons: they now train with the Colt C8 carbine and must be able to defend themselves if they encounter enemies with Kalashnikovs.

The first platoon of 60 men of the squadron called High Risk Security is deployed last month. End of this year is the second platoon ready and next year will be another four platoons trained.
