For 2.8 billion euros more than a hundred German stores were acquired. This Hudson's Bay made its appearance on the European market for department stores. The takeover of Kaufhof was in his own words, the basis on which the company wants to grow further across Europe.

Hand in hand

Sun Capital

Besides Hudson's Bay have also reported other parties to buy V & D. The contenders will be announced early next week.

Even former owner Sun Capital would be in the running for a restart with a number of branches. But there are many objections. Thus the works of V & D, the trustee has enjoined not to re-enter with a daring investor in the sea, because that would be of only short-term profit.

Other potential buyers of parts of V & D have to be quick. The "submission deadline" of the trustee closes today.
