Rotterdam wants to recall 1.5 million to a former official of the Nico V. By means of false invoices and shadowy structures the money was channeled to the business of the official. The municipality intends to recover that money.

The fraud took place between late 2009 and late 2011. Thanks to a whistleblower case was rolling. KPMG examined the reports and came to the conclusion that during this period a large number of false invoices received and paid. The funds were intended to tackle youth unemployment.

Rotterdam argues that the invoices were false because no work was offset. The judge ruled that there is uncertainty about the services provided. He labeled the description on the invoices as 'very concrete'. The court therefore ruled that Nico V. 1.5 million must be paid back.

"Only 4.5 ton '

Of the late V. himself in front of the AD that he disagrees with the opinion of the court and has appealed. According to him, there are only four half tons transferred to his company and to that end against weldegelijk services are rendered. "For example, set up a project to help people with mental health problems at work."

According to the former official he had written permission from his former supervisor to start their own business for advice on social security. "In the years that I have built up my business of this company and reduced the work for the church."

'City itself wrong'

The officer strikes back by claiming that the church itself omspringt wrong with money. He says the municipality 1.3 million grant from the government has used for youth to fill shortages.

According to the Rotterdam alderman Adriaan Visser (finance) is nonsense. The money is used to establish a regional foothold against youth unemployment.
