The Tergooi Hospital in Blaricum should be prosecuted for the death of a patient. Which decided by the Court in Amsterdam. The woman was still under anesthesia when she fell off an operating table. She suffered a fracture and a brain haemorrhage and was finally deceased at the consequences.
Relatives of the woman had in 2010 already reported at the hospital, but the prosecutor did not see a thing in there. The Amsterdam Court, however, indicates that a court does have to look into the matter. Justice does not prosecute the employees who were involved in the operation, but the hospital.Studies revealed in the case that the woman did not have to lie on the operating table to come. The employees involved were not vigilant enough. When one of the staff of the patient's right arm broke away from the container and put her body on the table, the woman slipped.
Inspection
According to the Health Care Inspectorate werden'protocollen and agreements are not respected, the patient was forgotten and had onoplettenheid fatal consequences. " The agreement is that employees stand beside the operating table the patient is lying in bed and the side rails are mounted. That has not happened.
Moreover, Tergooi apparently has not learned from previous warnings of the inspection. In November 2009 inspectors spent an unannounced visit to see if the situation in the theaters safe and proceeded according to the protocols. According to the inspection suspended it on some things, but they were enhanced by a visit in March 2010. One month later, the patient fell out of the operating table.
A spokesman for Tergooi announced that it is "a dramatic accident," for all involved. ,, By the specialists and assistants no action has been taken, amended and improved in consultation with the inspection protocols immediately. Yet we constantly see if things can be better addressed. "
