Vodafone and Ziggo go together

Telecom providers Ziggo and Vodafone will join forces. If one provider of fixed and mobile network companies want to compete with KPN, T-Mobile and Tele2.

Mike Fries, CEO of Liberty Global, the parent company Ziggo, believes that mobile TV branch of Vodafone and Ziggo and broadband services complement each other well. "This combination of fixed and mobile networks in the Netherlands will bring benefits for Dutch consumers and businesses," he expects.

The new combination will include aggregating 3.2 million broadband subscribers, 2.6 million fixed-line subscribers and 5.3 million mobile telephony subscribers.

By combining the two companies they can work more efficiently and economically. So they can use each other's infrastructure, IT systems and combined marketing and site. Therefore, the joint venture is expected to be definitely 3.5 billion less in costs.

But what consumers and businesses go exactly here marks, is not yet clear. De Ridder: "Whether there are lower rates is ultimately up to the new management."

Jobs away

Well also likely to decrease employment by the merger. "The expectation is that people have to go, but the numbers I can not say anything," said Knight.
