Cyclist (8) and motorcyclist die in accident in Zingem: "Motorcyclist drove 200 kilometers per hour"

In East Flanders Zingem a traffic accident Saturday noon a very heavy toll.

media_xll_8482560-2.jpgAn 8-year-old cyclist which rode with his father through the Nederzwalmsesteenweg direction Zingem, was seized while crossing the road by a motorcyclist. Both the cyclist and the motorcyclist did not survive the accident.

According to eyewitnesses, this was a huge blow and drove the motard too fast. Some even speak of 200 kilometers per hour, which is almost triple as much as the permitted 70 kilometers per hour. The boy, coming from Nederzwalm, the hit was catapulted 50 meters. The motorcyclist was another 30 meters into the canal.

An expert from the prosecutor's office arrived at the scene to determine the exact circumstances. By accident, the road linking Zingem Zwalm and until just after 19 pm closed to traffic.
