' Peek increase ' not allowed, but will be applied

Since 2013 Hoogstraten Jamie lives with her partner in Arnhem. When they just moved in, they paid 635 euros basic rent. Less than two years later, they tap on the 700 euros

NEIGHBOR
Jamie can not understand why they have to pay so much rent. "Our neighbor has exactly the same house with the same front and back and dimensions. He pays 400 euros, "says Jamie. The houses were mostly older people who die or have to move. The housing association then adds 100 euros on top of the rent if the house is vacant. The landlord has an earnings-related amount in rent. "I earn more than my partner, so the rent is obviously higher," says Jamie.

INTERIM MEASURES
These income-related rent increase would be regulated by law. Since the Woonbond thinks otherwise. According to the association, it is unlawful to increment based on income data rent. This would be contrary to the privacy law in accordance with a recent ruling by the Council of State. For Woonbond Director Ronald Paping is reason to take legal action.

300 MILLION EUROS

Tenants Director Paping tells the NIS that the government and landlords have not yet responded to a request to talk. He says, "But we still want to talk, we are quite willing to make a deal."

Meanwhile, Jamie does not know what to do. They will in any case get in touch with the Woonbond. "At least that's a start," she says.
